A court in London has sentenced a 36-year-old Nigerian man, Fawaz Abdulkareem, to life imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of Daniel Manuel.
The sentence was handed down at Croydon Crown Court on June 5, 2026.

Abdulkareem must spend at least 17 years in prison before he can apply for parole.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the incident happened on July 5, 2025, at an apartment building in Vauxhall, London.
Police were called to the building after receiving reports of a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they found Daniel Manuel seriously injured in the lobby of the building.
Despite efforts by police officers, paramedics, and medical staff to save him, he died at the scene.
Investigators found that Manuel and Abdulkareem had spent the evening with friends before returning to Abdulkareem’s apartment.
An argument later broke out between the two men, during which Manuel was stabbed.Police arrested Abdulkareem at the scene and charged him the next day.
During the investigation, detectives recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack after it was thrown from an upper floor of the building.
After a trial, a jury found Abdulkareem guilty of murder and possessing a knife.
Detective Inspector Luke Hampton, who led the investigation, said the conviction was the result of extensive police work.
He also expressed sympathy to Manuel’s family.In a statement read in court after the sentencing, Manuel’s wife, Zulal, described her husband as an important part of her life and spoke about the deep pain his death had caused her family.
The Metropolitan Police said the case demonstrates its continued efforts to combat serious violent crime and bring offenders to justice across London.
