The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, says he is the first governor in Nigeria to serve for eight years without owning a personal house.
Speaking in a video shared on Wednesday, the former Osun State governor said he lived in a friend’s house throughout his eight years in office.
“I’m the first governor in Nigeria to govern a state for eight years without owning a house. I stayed in my friend’s house throughout my time as governor in my home state. Anyone who doubts me should show the house I own,” he said.
Aregbesola, who was once a close ally of President Bola Tinubu, served as governor of Osun State for two terms before becoming Minister of Interior under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said that while serving as governor, his administration focused on reducing poverty, fighting hunger and unemployment, improving healthcare and education, and promoting peace and development across the state.
