2027: We’re not working for APC – Kwankwaso

The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed claims that his party may withdraw from the 2027 presidential election to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Kwankwaso said the NDC presidential ticket, led by Peter Obi, remains in the race and is confident of winning the election.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the former Kano State governor accused the ADC Presidential Campaign Council of attacking him, Obi and the NDC instead of promoting its own candidate.

He described claims that the NDC was working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or planning to step down for the ADC as false and misleading.

“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence and readiness to lead Nigeria,” he said.

Kwankwaso accused the ADC campaign team of spreading false claims about his party.

He also warned NDC supporters to ignore any reports suggesting that the party had endorsed another candidate or withdrawn from the presidential race.

He advised the ADC campaign council to focus on allegations reportedly made against its candidate by Vice President Kashim Shettima rather than attacking the NDC leadership.

Kwankwaso insisted that the NDC ticket, which he called the “OK ticket”, was not working for the APC or any of its candidates.

“The OK ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates. We see no possibility or reason to withdraw from the presidential race in favour of the ADC candidate or any other,” he said.

He also criticised the APC-led government, accusing it of failing Nigerians.

However, he said the ADC was not a better alternative.

Kwankwaso described the NDC as the country’s strongest opposition party and urged its supporters to remain committed to winning the 2027 election.

He said the party would focus on tackling insecurity, improving education, agriculture, infrastructure and healthcare, strengthening the economy, and promoting national unity.

“Nigeria will be OK,” he added.
