Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the APC-led Federal Government of making it difficult for opposition politicians to campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Galadima alleged that opposition politicians were being attacked or stopped from campaigning in some parts of the country.
He said such restrictions were against democracy, which should guarantee freedom of speech, movement and political participation.
Galadima also questioned the enforcement of campaign spending limits. He said the high cost of political billboards could make it difficult for political parties to stay within the N10 billion spending limit under the Electoral Act.
He claimed that a single billboard could cost as much as N1 billion in some states, arguing that campaign costs across the country could exceed the legal limit.
