President Bola Tinubu says Nigerians can criticise, insult or attack him without fear of being punished by his administration.
Tinubu made the statement on Thursday at the centenary celebration of the Daily Times newspaper in Abuja.
He was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
The president said tolerance of criticism and press freedom are important parts of his Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also said his administration’s reforms are aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy, improving infrastructure, attracting investment and creating more opportunities for young people.
Tinubu praised the Daily Times for its 100-year contribution to journalism and Nigeria’s history.
He also unveiled the Nigerian Grand Book, which he said would preserve the country’s history and recognise Nigerians who have contributed to national development.
Tinubu warned that Nigeria’s population could reach 450 million by 2050, saying this would increase pressure on food and water resources.
