Nigeria’s women’s national team, the Super Falcons, will be without two key players in their final Group C match at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after both were suspended for separate offences.
The suspended players are defender Oluwatosin Demehin and midfielder Jennifer Echegini.
Both received disciplinary sanctions during Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Zambia on Saturday.
Demehin was shown a straight red card in the 40th minute for a foul on Zambia captain Barbra Banda.
Echegini, meanwhile, received her second yellow card of the tournament, which carries an automatic one-match suspension under CAF rules.
The suspensions come as Nigeria prepares for its final Group C match against Egypt, with the Super Falcons aiming to secure qualification for the knockout stage.
Asisat Oshoala scored the only goal of the match in the eighth minute against Zambia.
Despite playing the final 50 minutes with 10 players, Nigeria held on for the win and earned three important points, moving up to second place in Group C.
