Tuchel Criticised After England’s World Cup Exit

England manager Thomas Tuchel has come under heavy criticism after his team’s 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semi-final.

England took the lead through Anthony Gordon early in the second half, but Argentina scored twice in the closing minutes to reach the final.

Many British newspapers blamed Tuchel’s defensive tactics for the defeat. They criticised his decision to bring on defenders Dan Burn and Ezri Konsa to protect the lead, saying the move allowed Argentina to take control of the match.

Some commentators compared the loss to England’s previous failures in major tournaments, saying the team once again failed to hold on to a winning position.

Former Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas also criticised England’s approach, describing it as “cowardly” because the team dropped back after scoring.

Despite the criticism, reports say Tuchel is expected to remain as England manager because his contract runs until Euro 2028.
