Senator Adams Oshiomhole has criticised Peter Obi’s ambition to become Nigeria’s president in 2027, saying his background as a businessman makes him unsuitable for the job.
Speaking on TVC’s Beyond the Headlines programme, Oshiomhole said traders usually focus on short-term gains rather than long-term planning needed to develop a country.
He also accused Obi of promoting imports instead of supporting local production, claiming this had led to job losses in Nigeria.
Oshiomhole dismissed Obi’s promise to serve only one term if elected, saying it is unrealistic to transform Nigeria in just four years.
He argued that Obi did not achieve all he promised while serving as governor of Anambra State.
The former Edo State governor also questioned Obi’s political consistency, saying he left the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) after previously promising to remain in the party.
Oshiomhole defended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the government is taking difficult but necessary decisions that will benefit Nigerians in the long run.
His comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to gather momentum.
