Nigeria has called for reforms to major global institutions to reflect current economic realities.

Vice President Kashim Shettima made the call while representing Nigeria at the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India.

Shettima urged BRICS countries to see Nigeria as a gateway to Africa’s growing market under the African Continental Free Trade Area.

He also called for stronger cooperation that would produce practical results in areas such as trade, investment and development.
