Trump Rejects Iran’s Peace Terms as Tensions Rise Again

US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal aimed at ending the ongoing Middle East conflict, increasing fears that fighting could continue.

Trump described Iran’s response as “totally unacceptable” in a post on his Truth Social platform, although he did not explain the details of the proposal.

The disagreement caused global oil prices to rise sharply on Monday.

Brent crude oil increased by about 4.6 percent to nearly $100 per barrel, while US oil prices also rose above $105 per barrel.

Investors are worried about possible disruptions to oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz, an important global shipping route.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said the war would not end until Iran’s nuclear facilities and enriched uranium are completely removed.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian insisted that Iran would not surrender despite ongoing diplomatic talks.

He said negotiations do not mean weakness or retreat.

According to Iranian state media, Tehran’s proposal focused on ending fighting across the region, especially in Lebanon, and ensuring safe shipping activities in the Gulf.

Reports also suggested Iran proposed reducing some of its highly enriched uranium while sending the rest to another country under certain guarantees.

The situation has increased tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran has reportedly restricted some maritime traffic.

The waterway is very important because about one-fifth of the world’s oil passes through it.

The United States has warned that it would not accept Iran controlling the route.

The US Navy has also reportedly increased pressure on Iranian shipping activities.

Meanwhile, Britain and France are discussing plans for an international mission to protect shipping in the area after any peace agreement is reached.

Fresh drone attacks in the Gulf on Sunday also raised concerns.

The United Arab Emirates said it intercepted drones launched from Iran, while Kuwait and Qatar also reported drone-related incidents.

An Iranian parliament official warned that any attack on Iranian vessels would lead to a “strong and decisive” response against American ships and military bases.

The conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States began in late February, and although a ceasefire has been in place since April, tensions remain high and fears of renewed fighting continue.
