The Presidency has said Nigerians have the constitutional right to defend themselves against attackers.

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, made this statement while reacting to recent killings and kidnappings in Oyo State.

Speaking on Arise Television, Bwala said the government is working to end insecurity in the country, but noted that criminals exist in every society.

He said Nigerians can legally defend themselves if attackers invade their homes, adding that self-defense is guaranteed by the constitution.

According to him, communities can also work together through vigilante groups and local intelligence to support security agencies.

Bwala further claimed that insecurity often increases during election periods because some people benefit from creating crises.

He assured Nigerians that the government remains committed to restoring peace and ending violent attacks across the country.
