The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the arrest and prosecution of its former factional national chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, after INEC rejected his claim of accessing its candidate nomination portal for the 2027 elections.
ADC said INEC’s statement that the document shared by Bala was fake has turned the issue from a political disagreement into an alleged criminal matter.
The party’s spokesperson, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, urged INEC to hand the matter over to security agencies for investigation and possible prosecution.
ADC accused Bala of making false claims and trying to damage public trust in Nigeria’s electoral system.
It said falsely claiming access to INEC’s restricted platform was a serious challenge to the commission’s credibility.
The party warned that failing to act could encourage others to spread false information, create confusion and weaken confidence in the electoral process.
ADC said the matter was not only about the party but also about protecting public institutions and ensuring that anyone who makes false claims about important national bodies faces the law.
