Presidency Rejects Obi’s Claim of Being Targeted, Calls Allegations False

The Presidency has dismissed claims by former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi that he is being targeted by the Federal Government ahead of the 2027 election.

Obi said in an interview that he was facing serious challenges and could not be sure he would still be alive to contest the election.

He also alleged that the government was frustrating his activities.

Reacting, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the claims as false and without evidence.

Onanuga accused Obi of making exaggerated allegations and said the government was focused on economic reforms rather than targeting opposition figures.

He also denied claims that the government was working against Fidelity Bank, where Obi is reported to have an interest, saying the bank continues to operate successfully under the current administration.
