Nigerian writer and columnist Okey Ndibe has confirmed that he has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS) after being briefly detained at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Ndibe said in a Facebook post that he was held for more than three hours but was treated respectfully by the DSS officers throughout the incident.

He thanked friends and supporters who reached out after news of his detention spread, saying many people contacted him from different parts of the world.
He also confirmed that he is in good health and doing well.
“I was detained for over three hours, but the officers were courteous,” he said.
“I have been released, I am fine, and in good spirits.”
Ndibe added that he would respond to more messages and calls in the coming days and appreciated the concern shown to him.
