President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which was taking place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, brought the President together with members of the Progressives Governors Forum, the group of APC governors across the country.
PUNCH reported that the meeting was ongoing at the Presidential Villa as of 5:50pm on Thursday.
Although details of the discussions had not been officially released at the time of the report, the meeting comes at a significant period for the ruling party as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
The APC controls several states across the country, making its governors important political actors in the party’s preparations for the next general elections. Their relationship with the Federal Government is also important in implementing policies and maintaining coordination between the federal and state governments.
The meeting is therefore expected to provide an opportunity for Tinubu and the governors to discuss political and national issues affecting the party and their respective states.
The President has in recent months continued to hold meetings with political leaders and stakeholders as his administration works towards consolidating its political structure ahead of 2027.
The APC has already confirmed Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, with Vice President Kashim Shettima retained as his running mate.
With the next general election approaching, meetings involving the President and APC governors are expected to attract increased attention, particularly as parties begin to strengthen their structures and mobilise supporters across the country.
For now, however, the specific issues discussed at Thursday’s meeting had not been made public.
