Presidency Urges EFCC, DSS, Police to Investigate PFIPC Scandal

The Presidency has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to investigate people within government institutions who allegedly helped Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew carry out the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scam.

In a statement shared on X on Friday, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, said investigators must identify and prosecute anyone who assisted Adeniyi.

Ajayi alleged that some government insiders helped Adeniyi create and operate the fake presidential agency.

He also claimed they were involved in a campaign to damage the reputation of the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

According to him, security agencies should expose the alleged criminal network, arrest everyone involved, and ensure they face prosecution.

Ajayi described Adeniyi as a fraudster who uses corruption allegations to distract the public from his alleged crimes.

He accused him of trying to link Gbajabiamila to the alleged fraud to protect himself.

He further alleged that Adeniyi was able to forge presidential appointment letters, operate 34 bank accounts in the names of fake government agencies, receive foreign ambassadors, and even open a Central Bank account while presenting himself as the Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

The Presidency said it expects the EFCC, DSS, and Police to uncover how the alleged fraud was carried out and identify everyone who helped make it possible.
