Security has been tightened in Kaduna ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s expected visit on Saturday for the launch of the APC’s 2027 presidential campaign.
Security personnel, including police officers, NSCDC officials and Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) marshals, have been deployed to protect campaign posters and billboards from vandalism.
Police patrol vehicles and armed officers were also seen at major roads, roundabouts and around the Kaduna Township Stadium, the venue of the rally.
The stadium, which can accommodate about 8,000 people, has been repainted and decorated with APC flags and campaign posters.
Its facilities have also been prepared for the event, while access to the venue has been restricted ahead of the rally.
Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, who chairs the rally’s organising committee, said preparations were progressing well.
She added that attendees would be screened before entering the stadium and assured them of adequate security.
The state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said mobilisation was ongoing and hotels and service apartments across Kaduna had been fully booked.
Tinubu is expected to attend the rally alongside governors from the seven North-West states, with party supporters and political leaders expected to gather in Kaduna.
