Public Servants May Strike Over Fuel Price, Wages

Nigerian public servants may begin a three-day warning strike on October 2 if the Federal Government does not respond to their demands over petrol prices, wages and the next minimum wage.

The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council gave the government until September 30 to act on the demands.

The council wants petrol reduced to N500 per litre, an immediate wage award and the start of negotiations for a new minimum wage from 2027.

It said public servants across the country had been mobilised for the planned strike if the government fails to meet the deadline.
