Troops Rescue 47 People From ISWAP Captivity in Borno

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have rescued 47 people, mostly women and children, from ISWAP terrorists in Kangarwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The rescue happened on June 20, 2026, during a joint military operation in the Lake Chad area.According to the military, continuous ground and air attacks forced the terrorists to abandon their positions, allowing the captives to escape.The rescued victims are now receiving medical care and humanitarian support at a secure location, while arrangements are being made for their return to normal life.Military officials said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist groups and free civilians held in captivity.They also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing operations until peace is fully restored in the North East region.
