The Editor-in-Chief of Empirical Magazine, Livinus Chibuike Victor, has commended the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council for its commitment to improving the welfare and healthcare of journalists.
Victor praised the chairman of the council, Grace Ike, and her executive team for introducing programmes that support journalists in Abuja and beyond.

He described the leadership as focused, caring, and committed to restoring respect and dignity to journalism in the FCT.
According to him, the council’s reforms and activities have brought hope, unity, and confidence among journalists while improving the image of the union.
Victor said that in his more than 10 years in union activities, he had rarely seen such commitment to members’ wellbeing.
He also noted that the council’s programmes have strengthened journalism practice and made the union more active and visible.
He prayed for more wisdom and success for the leadership and expressed hope that the administration would leave a lasting positive legacy.
The commendation comes as the 2026 NUJ FCT Press Week continues with activities such as free medical outreach, public discussions, and campaigns promoting ethical journalism ahead of the 2027 general elections.
