A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Nyesom Wike has started screening presidential, governorship and National Assembly aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the party said the exercise is being coordinated by the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee.

The PDP said the screening of governorship aspirants was held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, while presidential aspirants were screened later the same day.
Former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is heading the presidential screening committee, while former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi is leading the governorship screening committee.
Meanwhile, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan said she successfully completed the screening process for the Kogi Central Senatorial election under the PDP platform.
Also, Muhammed Abdullahi, popularly known as “Elephant,” confirmed that he was screened and cleared to contest the PDP primary for Kogi East Senatorial District.
In Cross River State, the party screened 45 aspirants for National and State Assembly seats ahead of the May 21 primaries.
The PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki also announced an alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
