Police Recover Large Quantity of Suspected Stolen Crude Oil in Delta

The Nigerian Navy says it has discovered about 40,000 litres of suspected illegally obtained crude oil in Delta State as part of its ongoing operations against oil theft.

The discovery is part of wider efforts by security agencies to tackle crude oil theft and illegal activities in the Niger Delta, which have continued to affect Nigeria’s oil production and government revenue.

The authorities have intensified surveillance and operations in oil-producing communities, waterways and other locations believed to be used by criminals involved in the illegal oil trade.

The government has repeatedly said that reducing oil theft is essential to increasing crude production and strengthening the country’s economy.
