Academic Operations Face New Threat as University Staff Union Issues 14-Day Strike Warning Over Withheld Pay

Public universities across Nigeria face potential operational shutdowns as the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) issued a fresh 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government demanding the urgent payout of long-overdue salary arrears.

The union expressed frustration over persistent delays in honoring previous agreements regarding withheld wages and non-teaching staff benefits.

Union representatives stated that non-academic administrative, technical, and maintenance services will be completely withdrawn if the government fails to clear all financial obligations before the expiration of the deadline, further threatening stability across federal and state tertiary institutions.
