Security concerns remain a major issue in parts of Plateau State following repeated attacks on communities and security personnel.
The Empirical Magazine has reported several incidents in the state in recent weeks, including attacks on vigilantes and residents.
In one recent incident, three vigilantes were killed while keeping watch over the NTV community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
Residents said the vigilantes were on duty when armed men attacked them at about 11pm.
The incident reportedly increased tension in the community and raised fresh concerns over the safety of people involved in community security efforts.
The attacks have also affected other parts of Plateau. Earlier in August, an attack on Binper community in Mangu Local Government Area reportedly killed at least 26 people and left several others injured.
The attackers were said to have moved from house to house during the assault.
The continuing violence has prompted calls from community groups for stronger security measures and better protection for vulnerable communities.
Different groups have also expressed concerns over the deployment and withdrawal of security personnel in some affected areas, reflecting disagreements over the best way to respond to the insecurity.
The repeated incidents have kept security in Plateau among the major concerns for residents and authorities.
