The media team of the Sultan of Sokoto has denied reports claiming that the traditional ruler asked Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Sultan’s media team described the reports as false, saying the Sultan does not support any presidential candidate because of his role as a father figure to all Nigerians.
The statement said the Sultan welcomes politicians from all parties and offers advice and prayers without taking sides.
It urged the public to ignore the false reports and warned against dragging the Sultan into partisan politics.
The media team also called on journalists and social media users to verify information before sharing it, adding that the Sultan remains committed to promoting peace, unity and national stability.
