14 Children Killed in Fire at India Study Centre

At least 14 children were killed and four others injured after a fire broke out in a three-storey building in Lucknow on Monday.

he building housed a library, a coaching centre for students, and a computer graphics section.

The fire started on the middle floor and quickly spread through the building.

Witnesses said several students jumped from the upper floors to escape the flames.

Television footage showed firefighters battling the blaze as smoke and fire engulfed the building.

State Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak confirmed the deaths and said authorities would take action against anyone found responsible.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Building fires are common in India, often linked to poor safety standards and faulty electrical wiring.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sadness over the tragedy and announced financial support for the families of the victims.
