President Bola Tinubu has said that people who do not pay taxes are not fulfilling their duty as citizens.
Tinubu made the statement on Friday while speaking at the Africa CEO Forum in Rwanda.

According to him, many people want good roads, hospitals, and other government services, but do not want to pay taxes that will help fund those projects.
He said taxation is not easy for anyone, whether rich or poor, but it is necessary for national development.
Tinubu explained that governments need money from taxes to build infrastructure, support healthcare, protect vulnerable people, and improve sectors such as the pharmaceutical industry.
He also recalled the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying countries must think seriously about how to generate and manage funds.
The President said paying taxes should be seen as an important responsibility for both individuals and companies.
“A citizen who pays taxes is a citizen, whether corporate or individual. If you are not a taxpayer and not exempted, then you are not a citizen,” Tinubu said.
